Reporting of Diagnostic Imaging

Negligence Claimline  https://www.negligenceclaimline.co.uk/news/detail?id=114 have reported in their advice piece how important the correct reporting of imaging is.

In this news article a radiologist failed to review the imaging correctly and diagnosed muscle damage when the injured person had actually broke his neck.

The radiologists used by Curian Medical are highly experienced professionals, many at the leading edge of their profession because we too appreciate the importance of correct reporting of images.

Curian Medical work with a number of organisations, including solicitors, insurers, employers and rehabilitation organisations, co-ordinating diagnostic imaging services for their patients/clients/employees.

In order to deliver the nationwide service we have one of the largest diagnostic imaging networks throughout the country.  Curian Medical ensures that all venues and partners utilised for diagnostic imaging are registered with the Care Quality Commission and must have high end level of professional indemnity.  All relationships are governed by stringent contractual agreements, outlining service level agreements, rates, and expected code of behaviour, quality assurance and much more.

Part of that process is engaging with our network of hospitals and radiologists who report on the images produced.  All Consultants are required to be experts within their field, have Consultant status and be registered with the GMC.  Periodic audits are carried out by Curian Medical to ensure services are being delivered by persons that are registered with their relevant body or council, ie GMC and reporting standards stay high.

Our processes ensure that we arrange for the radiologist report and images to be with our client at the earliest opportunity.

What is the difference between a radiologist and a radiographer?

A radiologist is a doctor who is specially trained to interpret diagnostic images such as X-rays, MRI and CT scans. If you have an interventional procedure (such as an angiogram or biopsy) a radiologist will perform the procedure. Radiologists provide a written report of the results of your examination which he or she will send to Curian Medical.

A radiographer is a person who has been trained to take your X-ray or perform your MRI or CT scan. If a radiographer has been trained to perform an ultrasound, he/she may be called a sonographer. If you have an interventional procedure (such as an angiogram or biopsy) a radiographer will be part of the team looking after you.
